Another thing I would consider is experience in the specific type of book you want to write. Someone who specializes in memoirs may not necessarily be the best choice for a business book, novel, self-help book, or autobiography. Looking at previous work, client reviews, writing samples, and the writer’s overall process can help narrow down the options.
I’d also pay attention to communication and project expectations before signing an agreement. Things like deadlines, revisions, confidentiality, ownership rights, payment structure, and the number of drafts included should be clearly discussed from the beginning.
