ParticipantIn extraction shooters, the line between an underutilized tool and a game-breaking meta shift is usually just one creative discovery away. In ARC Raiders, that line was crossed by a tactical item: the Blaze Grenade Trap.
Classified as a Rare “Quick Use” tactical gadget, this laser-based tripwire was originally designed to lock down narrow chokepoints and slow down aggressive enemy pushes. Weighing just 0.3 kg with a stack size of 3, the trap officially emits a visible laser line that, when crossed, detonates a Blaze Grenade. This creates a focused zone of control dealing fire damage over time (DoT). On paper, its stat sheet lists a humble 5 damage per second over a 10-second duration. In reality, it became the centerpiece of one of the most ridiculous boss exploits the community has ever seen.
The Infamous “One-Shot Queen” Exploit
The standard fight against a Queen ARC boss is usually a grueling, multi-stage test of coordination, positioning, and ammo management. However, players discovered a massive bug that completely bypassed the intended challenge, melting the towering mechanical boss almost instantly. The glitch stems from how the game processes multi-hitbox entities. While the trap is rated for a baseline of 5 damage per second, its mechanics break entirely when it is placed directly onto large, complex surfaces. When deployed on vertical or irregular surfaces—specifically the multi-hitbox belly or lower rim of the Queen—the fire damage ticks thousands of times per second instead of once. Players essentially realized it behaves like 50 or more damage per flame fragment per millisecond, overlapping hitboxes into an accidental death sentence.
The community strategy quickly turned into a high-stakes stealth mission. Players would sneak underneath a stationary, non-aggroed Queen from behind or wait until she focused on a teammate. From there, they would plant 1 to 2 Blaze Grenade Traps directly onto her body or inner rim. To trigger it instantly, players shot the trap with a heavy weapon like an Anvil shot. If the trap stayed attached to the body rather than falling to the floor before detonating, the exploit succeeded. The Queen’s health bar would vanish within seconds, culminating in a massive explosion and an instant payout of 46,000 to 48,000 XP.
How to Get the Blueprint
Though the developers quickly patched the unintended multi-hitbox damage scaling on the Queen, the Blaze Grenade Trap remains a highly efficient tool for clearing out clusters of elite ground enemies and blocking tight pathways in PvPvE engagements. To craft them yourself, you have to track down the blueprint to unlock Tier 3 of your Explosive Station.Because the blueprint relies entirely on RNG with no 100% guaranteed drop point, players have to target specific high-value containers across the game’s core maps:
Buried City: Focus your search on residential and commercial sectors, meticulously checking inside cabinet drawers, desks, and shelves during your runs.
Bluegate: Search thoroughly beneath car hoods, inside specialized cylindrical grenade bags scattered across active battlegrounds, or within the under-highway Raider hideout.
Spaceport: Keep an eye out during the “Uncovered Caches” dynamic event to hit Raider caches, or bring keys to unlock restricted key rooms.
Finding these items in the wild can take quite a bit of grinding due to the random nature of the loot tables. For players looking to skip the long hours of searching container after container, third-party marketplaces offer an alternative route. Platforms like U4N allow players to buy arc raiders blueprints directly, cutting out the tedious looting phase so they can head straight to the workbench.
Once you have successfully learned the blueprint, you can mass-produce the traps at your workshop. The crafting recipe is relatively simple, requiring just 1 Blaze Grenade and 1 set of Wires to output a ready-to-use trap, allowing you to fill your tactical inventory before your next drop.
